When I decided to expand my studio, I wanted to create a place of empowerment, a place where lives would be transformed. I had a vision, and with the help of my talented brother, my studio was thoughtfully designed to not only be a place to become strong and fit, but to also feel like “your” gym, a stylish, welcoming place that you can see yourself.
My brother once told me a story about the great artist, Michelangelo. When Michaelangelo was asked, “How do you create such beautiful masterpieces?” the master craftsman replied, The masterpiece was already existing inside the stone. I just used my chisel and hammer to chip away the debris that surrounds it.”
That has always stuck with me, and it inspires how I see my clients. I now looked at my clients differently, more thoughtfully. I use my knowledge and tools to help them bring out the masterpiece inside of them.
When I first started training 20 years ago all that I knew was sets, reps, cardio, eat right, and you will get results. While this is still part of the equation, I have learned that humans don’t fit into a perfect box. We are emotional, we have limitations, and we aren’t perfect. What I have learned is that perfect is bullshit. “Perfect” is made up by marketers for magazines to sell you things and empty promises.
Here’s my truth for you; do not compare yourself to those magazines or other people. The most important thing that I have learned is that you (and I mean every one of you) can be beautiful and empowered. Your masterpiece is your own. It is waiting inside of you, and I will help you bring it out.
